The 1st GraWIToN School was held at EGO from the 20th of April to the 8th of May. Besides the 12 GraWIToN ESRs another 13 students participated at the school. 24 teachers from all over Europe contributed with about 100 hours of lessons distributed over the three weeks of the school.
What is a scientist? How is the typical day of a scientists? What are the main goals of Virgo? These are some of the questions that students ask to us very frequently. That is why at EGO we decided to organize a special meeting with the local high schools of Pisa and tell them what is the life of a scientists.
In Virgo, we use light as a tool to measure the spacetime and detect gravitational waves. That is why the scientists of Virgo participated in the Global Open Lab Days (GOLD) initiative promoted by the committee of the International Year of Light (IYL2015).
